Why turning on Amazon ads before the listing is ready burns margin
Most Amazon accounts we audit are not under-spending. They are spending on listings that are not ready to convert. Clicks arrive, the shopper hesitates, and ACOS climbs while organic rank barely moves.
The sequence matters. We start with keyword coverage and listing architecture, then catalog hygiene, then creatives that answer the first three shopper questions. Ads come last, once conversion rate has a realistic floor.
If you launch campaigns first, you pay to learn problems that a catalog and SEO pass would have caught in a day. That is not testing. That is leakage.
A practical rule: do not scale exact-match spend until your main image, title, and first two bullets are indexed for the terms you actually want to rank. Otherwise you train the algorithm on the wrong query set.
